The Skarda Brothers-Andy and Jeff
Andy and Jeff Skarda were raised on a dairy farm in Denmark, Wisconsin by Jerry and Rita Skarda. Growing up, they learned the value of hard work and gained an appreciation for the land. Both left home, went to college, started their own professional careers and soon had families of their own. They now return to the original family farm each spring during Maple Syrup season to pass on the farming heritage and the value of hard work to the next generation of Skarda's.
Their grandfather, George Skarda, had stressed the importance of keeping the land in the Skarda name. Andy and Jeff decided the best way to ensure the land remained in the family was to build a log cabin from the logs that were planted by their parents and grandparents 50 years earlier.
In 2009 Andy decided to try his hand at syrup-making, and began with a lone maple tree in his backyard in Janesville, WI. While the venture was successful, it was very time consuming. Boiling a pot of sap took all day! Andy invested in a high-quality evaporator, and decided to move production back to the farm in Denmark, where it all began. The first year was a success, and the rest is history. Skarda Maple Farms was born!
